Standard Distribution Co. is proud to be a major investor in the innovative Cedar Falls Utilities solar power project, “Simple Solar,” located directly across the street from our 1109 Viking Road location.

Simple Solar, the largest community solar project in the state of Iowa, now provides 1.5 megawatts of green power to homes and businesses in Cedar Falls. Energy generation started at the site on April 1, 2016.

Total capacity of the array is 1.5 MW. It is currently the largest community solar project in Iowa. Here’s some interesting facts on the Prairie Lakes Solar Project:

• 1,250 Families, businesses and organizations purchased solar energy from the project
• 1,500 killowatts Generating capacity of Prairie Lakes Solar (AC)
• 8 acres Size of the site
• 6,516 Solar panels installed
• 8,682 Units of energy offered to the public. The project is 100% subscribed
